Jimmy Mowery Early Life

Jimmy was born and brought up in Altoona, Pennsylvania. His father who too was a musician ceded his music career in order to get a normal job and financially support the family soon after he was born. Jimmy was young when his parents broke up. When he was 11 years old, his dad was shot to death in front of the whole family.

In order to overcome the heartbreaking tragic and pay tribute to his late father, he embraced music and started playing guitar his mom had bought him at his 13th birthday.

While in high school, Jimmy founded own music band named Drop Out High. The music group was signed with a record label that gave a kick start to his career.

Jimmy Mowery The Voice

Jimmy, auditioned with Charlie Puth hit single ‘Attention’. He wowed the audience with his version of the song and managed to spin two chairs around of coaches Adam Levine and John Legend in the blind audition. He chose to be a member of Team Adam.

During his performance, Adam Levine quickly turned his chair around — an action that signals someone has made the show. “I was looking out at the crowd and didn’t even notice at first that he turned,” Mowery said. “I heard my family scream so loud back in the area they were watching, and it kind of scared me. I like looked around and then I noticed he’s turned around watching me. Then it’s like, ‘Oh God, don’t forget words. Don’t mess up. You’ve got it. You’ve got the chair turned so get it together.’”

Later in the performance, John Legend also turned his chair. Neither Kelly Clarkson nor Blake Shelton turned around during the performance, leaving him a choice between Levine and Legend.

Jimmy who said he’s idolized Levine and Maroon Five since they arrived on the scene in the early 2000s, said his decision was easy, yet difficult at the same time.

“I kind of had my mindset from the beginning that even if all the chairs turned I wanted to go with Adam,” he said. “But it was hard listening to both of them pitch to me. So it was hard not picking John.”
